Made in Japan, this chokin porcelain vase is gilded with 24-karat gold. The delicate gold plate features two geisha wearing traditional kimonos and carrying sun parasols, walking beside a bridge. A Japanese signature has been etched into the bottom of the plate by the maker.
Historically, chokin art was gifted to honour 12th-century samurai. Chokin artists decorated samurai artillery with ornate gold or silver designs. Today, vintage chokin is popular with collectors across the East and West.
